Do you remember much of your early childhood days?
As I sit by my window watching my girls having fun in their own way, makes me reflect on my own childhood days. The days when nothing mattered more than having my sibling as my best friends and playmates.
My girls are barefeet running around picking and smelling sun flower, pushing each other around on their tricycle, laughing, chattering, and yes screaming. Ohhhh how I remember similar days but there weren't tricycles in the picture. In those days we made our own toys like box trucks or dolls from dried mangoe seeds. Yeees, those were the good old days in St. Thomas, Jamaica.
My mother was a single parent who tried desperately to make ends meet. Our situation didn't allow us to get store bought toys that other kids took for granted. Instead we used our imagination and creativity. Come to think of it, we were much better off in a certain sense. We had the opportunity of putting or minds to work. We were members of active teams. Team work was the order of the day. What did we know about team dynamics? Absolutely nothing. The irony of it all.
Oooohhhh the little things we tend to forget.
