Keeping the Faith

Yesterday afternoon, I stood and watched my kids and their friend play while speaking with a friend, who is a former co-worker, on the phone. During the conversation my friend read a story to me and we began discussing certain issues which made me reminisce about the times we worked together. Of-course, I began feeling sad as the doubting thoughts of my abilities and capabilities burst to the fore. I voiced this in the conversation and as she always did, she discouraged me from entertaining such thoughts.

Like others with whom I have worked, this friend always commented on the relationships I foster with those in my charge as well as admired my work ethics and attitude.  Well, I guess I must have done something right.

Seriously speaking now, ever since losing the job that I really loved and enjoyed doing; I have since wondered what's the purpose of investing so much time and effort in something that can easily taken away? Showing a high level of love, dedication, commitment, always striving for success and/or a breakthrough in tough situation amidst all else just taken and shoved in my face in a seemingly unappreciated fashion. I must admit that my self-esteem has taken a beating as I am always assessing where I went wrong. I am trying to work on myself doing a lot of self-talk to keep motivated to improve my somewhat defeated self-esteem. It is a tough task, but I am trying.

So, I want to take this opportunity to say to those who believe and continue to encourage me a big THANK YOU. Though the task is challenging I remain resolute that this unfortunate occurrence will not stop me from being that passionate, dedicated, and committed person I am.
